GOLF CLASSIC DINNER SPEAKER: Packer Legend LeRoy Butler!
We have reached an exciting turning point within our tri-parish family. Enrollments being what they are at St. Charles Borromeo and St. Mary School -- our flagship schools -- we are combining athletics into a single program.
Aside from a long tradition of sports and team spirit at both schools...
... the two also have a long legacy of partnering on any initiative which ultimately benefits the growth, faith, and academic lives of our students. There are organizational strengths in both programs today that, when combined, will create one solid program. The most important aspect we considered is our student athletes. If combining athletics would have been to the detriment of playing time and skill-building opportunities,
we wouldn't combine resources.
Eighth grade teams at both schools this coming school year (volleyball and basketball) will continue to play for their respective schools. We wanted to let them play out their grade school years together. Grades 5-7 will field teams combining students from both schools. Some 7th and 8th grades may have an A team and a B team competing in our existing Parkview League.
We intend to call the combined unit the Burlington Catholic Athletic Association under the co-directors, Andrea Clapp and Scott Stevens. (email: AD@BurlingtonCatholic.org) The co-directors report to both schools. Where we once had Chargers and Panthers, we now have the Charging Panthers. There will not be new uniforms until needs call for them: Teams will wear existing uniforms for now.
You'll continue to see most of the dedicated and talented volunteer coaches from both schools. And there's always a need for additional volunteer sports leadership. Saturday home games will be played at St. Charles... Sunday home games in the SMS/CCHS gym.
